New US three piece girl group called "Sophia Fresh" are making some serious noise Stateside.  Having collaborated with the award winning singer/producer T-Pain, for their debut single called "The Instant", which features on the soundtrack for the smash hit movie "Step Up 3D".  Having signed to Atlantic records, the girls showcase a funky, dance inspired track in their single "The Instant".  "Sophia Fresh" comprises of Skye, Crystal and Cole Rose, expect to see more from the ladies in the very near future.

London based singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran has got MAD SKILLS. He blew me away with this acoustic version of his new single "You Need Me, I Don't Need You".  I was introduced to Ed while listening to him being interviewed and performing on actor Jamie Foxx's radio show , The Foxxhole.  If Ed can manage to impress the members of the Foxxhole (which he did) then this boy is definitely "one to watch".  Like how he fits a slice of "In da Club" and Jamie Foxx/Justin Timberlakes track "Winner" in his acoustic freestyle of his single.  Check out his performance and interview with Jamie.

I've met some pretty amazing people while doing my rounds in this industry, but I was blown away by a singer who I met in December.  I had no clue who the young lady was, as I was to busy looking at the amazing retro KILLER leather jacket she had on.  The South London "devil" in me kept saying "we should just grab that sh@t and run" (lol) but the South London "angel" in me kept saying "Girl, that ain't the way forward".  Instead I asked the lady for a photo so that I could feature her and "said" leather jacket in my "Street Style" section.  She happily obliged and I felt AWFUL about having thoughts of "jackin" the chick as she was so nice.  Once I added her to my "Street Style" article, I got an email  telling me "Hey Miss Lala, that girl with THE jacket is a singer called Jessie J, the girl can SANG! You need to listen to her!  With this new found information, I went to Jessie's myspace page to see if she was the real deal.  To my surprise, I found this funny Essex girl with great fashion sense singing the HECK out of tracks that she had written herself.  She blew me away! I know she's going to be one to watch in 2010.  Jessie has just signed to Island Records in the Uk and Republic in the US (Universal)

Having already worked with the likes of Ryan Leslie and with sports giants Adidas claiming he''s the artist "About To Blow".  Bluey Robinson looks as though he's about to do big things.  Check out his video for his new single called "I Know"

You may not of heard of her name before, but i'm sure you know her very famous god-mother, Amy Winehouse.  The young lady in the picture is Dionne Bromfield and the first signing to Amy Winehouses label Lioness Records (www.lionessrecord.com).  Dionne is set to release her first album on October 12th called "Introducing Dionne Bromfield".  Check out the video of Dionne below.

Congratulations to Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle (Corynne Elliot). Hailing from South London, the female MC shocked everyone when she took home the coveted BarclayMercury Prize 2009. She surprised everyone with the win as not only did she beat the likes of Kasabian and Bats For Lashes, her album "Speech Threapy" only sold 1500 copies. Within 24 hours of the announcement of her win, her album sales went up 4000 percent on Amazon and jumped 1000 places in the company's download chart to take the top spot.

After collecting her award at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, she said: 'I feel so good. It feels better than I imagined. I don't get emotional - I'm emotional.

'This proves if you believe in something and you think you can do it, you can achieve it.'

She also revealed that she would be using the £20,000 prize money to start her own record label. 'It's not enough to go wild on,' she said. 'I've got bills to pay.' (SOURCE)

Wow, who would have thought that an artist would be recognised for there work rather than the way that they look. Style over substance seems to have taken a backseat where Speech is concerned, this is very refreshing news. Nice to see someone be recognised for there work, as opposed to how scantily dressed they are. Good luck to her and congratulations from Miss Lala. Check out her videos below.

West African born Tabi Bonney has quite a following on myspace and thats no surprise at all. He is definatly on his grind with tracks like "Jet Setter" , showing exactly what unsigned talent can do with drive, talent and determination. Mpho, pronounced (Mmm-poh)

Introducing to you Mpho.  New singer born in South Africa, but grew up in South London.  Having worked with the likes of Natasha Beddingfield and Ms Dynamite, Mpho is set to fly solo with her first solo single entitled "Box N Lock".  The single talks about her not wanting to be pigeon holed as the "typical ghetto chick black artist" who should be shaking her booty and wearing a bag of weave on her head lol.  Mpho is the latest edition of black females that are coming out with a more rock sound (think Santigold, Remi Nicole, Noisettes, Janelle Monae).  Her single is due for release July, expect the Lp entitled Pop Art to be out in the autumn. www.myspace.com/mphosounds

New girl group called Paradiso have a new singgle and video entitled "Tequila". This group was put together by Pussy Cat Doll creator, Robin Antin. The five members go by the names of Chelsea, Aria, Kelly, Shar and Lauren. maybe all those rumours about The Pussy Cat Dolls are true, looks like its the end. Well, C'est la vie Le Pussy Cat and Bonjour Paradiso lol

I posted an audio of this track not too long ago. I have now found the video for you guys to look at.Love this song, its verycatchy and has that Rich Harrison stamp. Heavy repetitive beat always get me going.
